About the Centre

The Centre provides secondary and tertiary level services. Renal, rheumatic and heart diseases, as well as children with somatic problems are treated using modern techniques. The first Children’s Sleep Disorders laboratory was established in the Children’s Neurology Department in 2009. This Department also treats neurological diseases, development disorders and mental illness.

The Children’s Infectious Disease Department treats over 2,000 in-patients annually. Here information about rotavirus is collected for EuroRotaNet.

In the Children’s Pulmonology and Immunology Department  treats children with atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, food allergies. Also, as children respiratory illnesses are quite common, the Centre treats over 2,500 children annually.

The main task of the Department is to provide the highest level of specialized pulmonology and allergology inpatient and out-patient health care services for children utilizing the most modern medical methods and equipment available.

Among all the Centres, at the Children’s Hospital, The Paediatrics Centre has the largest complement of medical doctors. The physician staff are constantly preparing academic work, publishing science articles, participating in various scientific conferences and taking advantage of internships abroad.
